Our Mission
Cybersecurity Certifications Should Be Accessible to Everyone
We’re building the tools that make it possible for anyone — from any background — to earn a cybersecurity certification and start a meaningful career.
The Problem We’re Solving
Cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing career fields in the world, with hundreds of thousands of unfilled positions and salaries that offer real financial stability. The demand is there. The opportunity is there.
But the path to getting certified? That’s where most people get stuck.
The industry’s current options for exam preparation are either overpriced, outdated, or both. Bootcamps charge between $1,300 and $3,400 for programs that last a few weeks to two months — and their aggressive marketing often overpromises what they deliver. A college degree in cybersecurity costs significantly more and requires years of commitment that many career-changers, working professionals, and students simply cannot afford.
And even with a degree, most employers still require at least one industry certification before they’ll hire. The alternative study apps on the market are expensive, poorly designed, and fail to make the learning experience engaging or effective.
Our Mission
Certcy exists to make cybersecurity certification preparation accessible, affordable, and genuinely effective.
We’re building a learning platform that meets people where they are — whether you’re a college student exploring a new career path, a working professional looking to switch fields, a veteran transitioning to civilian tech work, or someone who simply wants to break into one of the most in-demand industries of our generation.
Our app is designed to be the study tool we wished existed when we were preparing for our own certifications: clear explanations that teach you why an answer is correct, practice questions that mirror the real exam experience, and a progression system that keeps you motivated through the long study grind.
CompTIA A+ preparation is free — no paywall, no trial, no catch. Because the entry-level certification that opens the door to IT careers shouldn’t cost hundreds of dollars just to study for.
Where We’re Going
We’re not stopping at practice questions. Our near-term goal is to become a trusted, accredited resource for cybersecurity education. We are actively pursuing:
- Accreditation as a recognized continuing education provider
- University and high school partnerships to provide students with free or deeply discounted access — because the next generation of cybersecurity professionals shouldn’t have to wait until they can afford a bootcamp
- Workforce development integration, including working toward partnership with the New York State Department of Labor Benefits Program — the same model that provides free Coursera access to unemployed and underemployed New Yorkers
- E-learning platform collaboration with LinkedIn Learning and Coursera to expand our reach to millions more learners
We believe that if cybersecurity is going to protect the systems everyone depends on, then the people who do that work should come from everywhere — not just from the families and backgrounds that can afford a $3,000 bootcamp or a four-year degree.
Our Commitment
Every feature we build, every exam we add, and every partnership we pursue is guided by one principle: lower the barrier to entry for cybersecurity careers.
